Description
JAGUAR A 1/48 Scale kit
The Jaguar was the first of several successful Anglo-French aviation projects begun in the 1960s. Both France and the UK badly needed a cost-effective, lightweight and uncomplicated ground attack aircraft, and in 1965 a joint specification was agreed. The prime contractors were to be Breguet in France (later to become Dassault-Breguet) and the British Aircraft Corporation, who formed SEPECAT (Société Européenne de Production de l’Avion d’Ecole de Combat et d’Appui Tactique). The first operational unit to equip was E.C.1/7 at St Dizier in June 1973, and other French Air Force units were quickly re-equipped with the type. Jaguars have seen operational service in various parts of North Africa and in Operation ‘Desert Storm’, the first war against Iraq, early in 1991.The E.C.1/7 would remain equipped with the JAGUAR A until July 2005, upon which date the aircraft ceased to be in active service in the French Air Force.
